Chat with Me about Environmental Engineering and Technology
April 28th, 2025 by Farhan Ahmad
Hello World! Welcome to my blog at Bio Careers. My name is Farhan Ahmad. I’m a final year Ph.D. student in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Michigan State University (MSU). I have been working on the development of microfluidics-based molecular assays and optical tools for the detection of pathogenic microorganisms. I did my M.S (Materials Science and Engineering) from Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology, South Korea and undergraduate degree (Petrochemical Engineering) from Aligarh Muslim University, India. My interest in environmental engineering led me to pursue a Ph.D.
I’d like to briefly highlight the research pursued in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at MSU. However, a lot of interesting work is going on in other academic and governmental institutions, which I’ll discuss in further posts. My intention is to start with a general idea about the type of research conducted in this area, then survey compelling research being performed in the discipline.
I’m hopeful that this information will help those interested in pursuing a career in Environmental Engineering.
What I’m going to write about?
In the future, I will provide information related to the advancements in environmental science, engineering, and technology arena. I’ll share my own research work. I’ll also discuss the necessary skill sets that are required in an environmental engineering graduate for jobs in academia and industry. In my next blog, I’m going to share the recent environmental engineering research going on at MSU. I’m looking forward to your questions and comments.
