Position Type: Exempt Staff

Position Summary:
Interviews and advises students regarding information, procedures and academic requirements of a specific program or major. Assists students in exploring careers, evaluating academic abilities, and setting goals

Minimum Education/Training/Experience:
Bachelors Degree and one (1) year of experience in academic advising, counseling, or in the field of education.

Preferred Education/Training/Experience:
Masters degree in lieu of direct experience.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of:
Texas core requirements;
Career assessment programs;
Business software programs;
Course content and objectives

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
Skill in: Use of computers and related software application programs; Interviewing and advising; Interpreting college catalogs, course requirements and program parameters; Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
