Position Summary:
The primary focus of the assistant is to help students code and debug Python programs during the class period. The course is taught with interleaved lecture and lab. Students write, test and debug programs during class after a lecture on the subject matter. Since this is the first exposure to programming for most students, assistance with coding and debugging programs is crucial for class exercises.
Job Duties:
The lab assistant will attend all COSC 1336 classes and will help the students code and debug Python programs during the class period. The course is taught with interleaved lecture and lab. Class meets for two hours twice a week, for a total of four hours per week, for sixteen weeks.
The lab assistant also assists students with Python programming after class, if required.
Minimum Education/Training/Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent. Some college credit. Must have completed COSC 1336 Programming I with Python
Preferred Education/Training/Experience:
Received grade of A. for COSC 1336 Programming I with Python
Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of Python programming, coding and debugging programs
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
Skilled in the knowledge areas of Python Programming. Good verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
