Job Summary

A computational research position is available in the Kasinath Lab Research Group in the Department of Biochemistry at University of Colorado Boulder.
Deep Learning for Microscopic Image Analysis. The Vignesh Kasinath Lab is seeking a research student to contribute to cutting-edge research in deep learning and medical computer vision. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work on foundational models for microscopic image analysis, focusing on electron tomography imaging data. The intern will assist in developing large foundational vision models, optimizing training pipelines, and building cloud-based infrastructure to support model training and deployment.
This internship is ideal for graduate students, advanced undergraduates looking to gain hands-on experience in deep learning for medical imaging. The research position can be extended to include Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 depending on performance and interest. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

• Develop and optimize transformer-based models for computer vision applications.
• Manage and utilize HPC clusters for training large foundational models.
• Perform scripting and data analysis for electron tomography imaging.
• Contribute to the iterative optimization of deep learning frameworks for medical imaging tasks.

What We Can Offer

• The summer position is for 30 hours a week at $18 per hour.

What We Require

• Experience with Transformer architectures in computer vision.
• Knowledge of HPC clusters and cloud computing (AWS, GCP, Azure) for large-scale model training.
• 2+ years of experience in Python and Computer Vision.
• Deeper Understanding of data pipelines and training workflows for Visual Language Models (e.g., CLIP, GLIP, SAM).
• Hands-on experience with biomedical or microscopic image analysis.
• Proficiency in PyTorch/TensorFlow, OpenCV, NumPy, SciPy.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn and innovate.
