Job Description

The University of Nevada at Lake Tahoe is recruiting for a Specialist, MFA Low-Residency Programs. This is a part-time (20 hours a week) position. The Specialist is responsible for the facilitation of administrative activities, day-to-day operations of the MFA-IA and MFA-CW low-residency programs at UNR at Lake Tahoe. These details include coordinating all operations and logistics leading up to, during and post low-residency period, coordinating with the different resources that will be needed, and working with the MFA Directors and Chair on marketing and communications to support recruitment activities.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Manage operation and logistics leading up to, during and post low-residency period, including supporting communications with students, communications with instructors, coordinating with Housing and Student Affairs on housing and meals, and with Operations on event scheduling, planning and management.
  • Coordinate classroom and event scheduling, IT support, catering and other needs with the appropriate offices for low-residency programing.
  • Support Directors in curriculum and compliance, including building and communicating course schedules, Assessment, Silver Core, course listings and descriptions, University Courses and Curriculum Committee, Curriculog, and others.
  • Along with MFA Directors, consult and coordinate with department Chair on vision, priorities and key decisions.
  • Assists MFA Directors in application review, and students in navigating the admissions process.
  • Working with department Chair and Assists MFA Directors on marketing and communications to support recruitment activities.
  • Coordinate the management of visiting writers and artists, including letter of appointment instructors for both low-residency and semester teaching.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and one year of related work experience; OR a Master's Degree and no work experience required

Certification and Licensure

Driver's License is required

Grants-in-Aid for Faculty Employees

Department Information

The Department of Art, Art History & Design at the University of Nevada, Reno, offers a B.A. and a minor in Art History as well as undergraduate degree programs in a range of fine art emphases including Book Arts, Ceramics, Digital Media, Drawing, Graphic Arts, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, and Sculpture. The program is also home to a full residential MFA in Visual Art, a low residency MFA in Visual Art and a low residency program in Creative Writing. The Department of Art, Art History & Design functions within the School of the Arts and the College of Liberal Arts, which provides a focused environment emphasizing critical perspectives and historical knowledge leading to an informed appreciation of the world's artistic potential.
