Position Summary
Are you a highly organized and detail-oriented professional with experience in managing complex administrative operations? The School of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences at San Diego State University is seeking an Operations Coordinator to join our team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to serve as the principal assistant to the Director, overseeing the day-to-day administrative operations of the School. As the lead to administrative staff and student workers, you will be responsible for managing multiple priorities, supervising staff, and ensuring the efficient functioning of the School's operations, including fiscal management, personnel-related activities, and special projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative Coordination: Serve as the office coordinator and provide professional, responsive service to students, faculty, staff, advisors, alumni, and community partners. Oversee the day-to-day operations and special projects for the School of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences.
Staff Supervision: Lead and supervise administrative staff and student workers, providing guidance, training, and work coordination.
Fiscal Accounts Coordination: Take complete responsibility for the School's numerous budgets, Research Foundation accounts, scholarships, endowment funds, faculty contracts and buyouts, TA/GA contracts, adjunct appointments, and other financial reporting.
Personnel and Academic Support: Oversee the Reappointment, Tenure, and Promotion (RTP) and Periodic Evaluation processes, as well as manage faculty workload reports, supervision, and assigned time. Assist with faculty searches, class schedules, and various other personnel-related administrative duties.
Decision-Making and Problem-Solving: Use independent judgment to make decisions, interpret and apply a wide range of policies and procedures, and determine appropriate solutions to various administrative challenges.
Special Projects: Lead or assist with special projects as required by the Director or for the School's operational needs, ensuring timely and successful completion.

Position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
This position is approved for partial telecommuting with onsite work in San Diego.
Department Summary
The School of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences is one of the largest academic departments/schools at San Diego State University with over 2,000 students. It offers two undergraduate majors and six master's degrees in the areas of kinesiology, foods and nutrition, athletic training, nutritional sciences, exercise physiology, and food science.
The School has approximately 11 tenured faculty, 8 probationary faculty, 9 full-time lecturers, and 20+ part-time lecturers who teach various academic courses, and 5 support staff.

Education and Experience
Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.
These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.
Key Qualifications
Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures.
Comprehensive and detailed knowledge of the university infrastructure, policies, and procedures.
Expertise in using office software packages, technology, and systems.
Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures independently and use judgment and discretion to act when precedents do not exist.
Experience coordinating administrative support functions for a group.
Three to five years of experience as lead and/or supervisory experience preferred.
Experience with developing, coordinating, analyzing, and tracking of complex budgets and making accurate projections.
Demonstrated ability to analyze fiscal problems and develop, recommend, and evaluate proposed solutions.
Competence in SDSU systems: Oracle, PI Profile, Peoplesoft, Astra, OnBase, Interfolio, PageUp, and Adobe Sign preferred.
Experience with faculty reappointment, tenure, and promotion requirements preferred.
Experience in developing class schedules preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $4,800 per month.
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,058 - $6,653 per month.
