Description: This webinar will introduce successful negotiation techniques and tips on how to bargain for your start up package while making sure you get the resources that you need. We will also cover the importance adjusting negotiating style as well as preparing your best self.

Bio: Jim is the director of the HMS/HSDM Office for Postdoctoral Fellows at Harvard Medical School where he’s built programs and policies for research, career, and professional development for the last six plus years. Jim has spoken and published on career and professional development topics in a variety of forums, locally and nationally, including articles in Nature Immunology covering CV to resume conversion, interviewing strategies, and manuscript writing. He is involved with Naturejobs as a guest blogger, Career Community expert, and Career Expo Boston steering committee member as well as being a guest speaker on Cheeky Scientist webinars and an invited career consultant on numerous occasions. Prior to HMS, Jim completed two postdoc fellowships at the National Cancer Institute of the NIH where he also developed an internship with the NCI’s Office of Training and Education. He chaired the NCI’s postdoc association and is a member of the National Postdoctoral Association, Graduate Career Consortium, and AAAS. Jim received his BS at Clarion University of Pennsylvania in Biotechnology/Molecular Biology and his PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Louisville.
